Hello,
My name is Yolanda Miranda. I am very excited to be your child's Math teacher this year. I think we are going to have so much fun in 8th grade. I love teaching and really enjoy watching students make connections and learn new things. My goal as a teacher is to teach the Common Core Standards, but also to make lasting relationships with my students and help them become life-long learners. I have taught 6th through 8th grade. I really love middle school and all the transitions the students go through at this age. It will be amazing to see each student's growth this year from last year.
I really enjoy teaching Math. I find it fascinating how numbers work and what you can do to numbers for a specific goal. One of my ongoing goals to to show students how to manipulate numbers to make a task easier. Nothing makes me happier than to see the excitement a young student has when it all clicks for them! Math is amazing and I hope my enthusiasm for the subject rubs off on your student and they too will begin to love it.
I grew up in San Diego and have lived here most of my life. I moved to Arizona for a few years, then decided to return to beautiful San Diego. I attended Cal State San Marcos where I earned my Bachelor's Degree and teaching credential. I then went on to earn a Mater's Degree from Northern Arizona University.
I have two children. My daughter graduated from San Diego State University and earned a degree in hospitality and my son is in 11th grade at San Diego High School. Family is very important to me and when I am not at school, I am typically with my family hanging out or watching baseball.
I am looking forward to having a fun and exciting final school year here at KLA with your child. I thank you in advance for all your support.
Sincerely,
Ms. Yolanda Miranda
